Gwase
GWASE is an area of Uganda, beyond Jinja, badly affected by tunga… (jiggers there) small worms that crawl into the feet of children who are often barefoot.
The result is extremely painful and prevents them from walking.
This hygiene project, against these pests, started in 2018. A small centre has also been started there which will house, in addition to fighting against these pests, a care service for women who want to give birth, as there is no centre for them there and they all have to go to Kamuli, at enormous expense and in very dangerous conditions.
This project is entirely run by Fabian Jowers, who regularly travels there to carry out these actions.
